Who uses it

gCube has been used to successfully build and operate infrastructures and virtual research environments for application domains ranging from biodiversity to environmental data management and cultural heritage.

The D4Science Hybrid Data Infrastructure connects +1500 scientists in 44 countries, integrating +50 heterogeneous data providers, executing +13,000 models & algorithms/month; providing access to over a billion quality records in repositories worldwide, with 99,7% service availability. D4Science hosts +25 Virtual Research Environments to serve the biological, ecological, environmental, and statistical communities world-wide.

iMarine (Data e-Infrastructure Initiative for Fisheries Management and Conservation of Marine Living Resources) is co-funded by the European Commission, DG Connect Unit, under Framework Programme 7 and involves thirteen international partners (See Who is involved). The project was launched in November 2011, its ultimate goal of iMarine is to contribute to sustainable environmental management with invaluable direct or indirect benefits to the future of our planet, from climate change mitigation and marine biodiversity loss containment to poverty alleviation and disaster risk reduction. 

iMarine provides an e-infrastructure that facilitates open access and the sharing of a multitude of data, collaborative analysis, processing and mining processing, as well as the publication and dissemination of newly generated knowledge.

The Geothermal ERA-NET has worked on a Pilot Project for a European Geothermal Information Platform (EGIP), the objective of EGIP is to ensure that otherwise dispersed and heterogeneous data is available to all stakeholder communities through a shared virtual environment that brings together multidisciplinary data sources, supports cross-cutting scientific analysis, and assists communication.

 

EUBrazilOpenBio aims to ambitiously combine the Biodiversity Science and the Open Access Movement, promoting the concept of the openness for scientific research. The project will deploy an open-access platform from the federation and integration of existing European and Brazilian infrastructures and resources, making significant strides towards fully supporting the needs and requirements of the biodiversity scientific community.
