The 5th EGEE User Forum was held in collaboration with EGI and NDGF in Uppsala, Sweden, April 12-16, 2010.
With the establishment of sustainable European and National e-Infrastructures this event was the ideal place for European e-Infrastructure users to meet, share experiences, and shape the future of European e-Infrastructures.
The D4science II project was represented at the 5th User Forum meeting held from 12-16 april by the Uppsala University( Sweden). |

The D4Science e-Infrastructure is a framework enabling secure, cost-effective and on-demand resource sharing across organisation boundaries. Powered by gCube, the D4Science e-Infrastructure lifts the grid-paradigm at an application-level and poses as a “mediator” in a market of resources aiming to accommodate the needs of resource providers and consumers. This potentially not-limited market allows a new development paradigm based on the notion of Virtual Research Environment (VRE), i.e. integrated environment providing seamless access to the needed resources as well as facilities for communication, collaboration and any kind of interaction among scientists and researchers.
To showcase these capabilities the AquaMaps VRE has been presented at the Internationl Symposium on Grid Computing (ISGC). |

The 6th Technical Committee (TCom) meeting took place between the 17-20 of March in Pisa, Italy. The meeting was hosted by the Italian National Research Council (CNR) at the Institute of Information Science and Technologies (ISTI). A D4Science TCom event is a face-to-face meeting which aims to collectively address any technical issues that arise along the course of the project and to define a concrete plan to properly address them. It is open and flexible, i.e. besides technical partners the whole consortium is potentially invited to attend dependent on the topics to be discussed. |
