D4Science 7th Technical Committee Meeting
Chania, Greece 8-11 June 2009

7th TComThe 7th Technical Committee (TCom) meeting took place between the 8-11 of June 2009 in Chania, Greece. The meeting was organised by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) at the Santa Marina Hotel in Crete.

A D4Science TCom event is a face-to-face meeting which aims to collectively address any technical issues that arise along the course of the project and to define a concrete plan to properly deal with them. It is open and flexible, i.e. besides technical partners the whole consortium is potentially invited to attend dependent on the topics to be discussed.

This TCom event primarily focused on (i) analysing the current status of activities, (ii) reaching a common understanding on the coming activities, (iii) reporting on the status of the major development activities resulting from the previous TCom reorientation, i.e. Time Series support, gPod integration and AquaMaps enhancements and (iv) gathering feedback from User Communities resulting from their exploitation of the available Virtual Research Environments and the supporting technology.

The meeting consisted of 40 slots, some of them occurring in parallel, and discussing the following topics:

  • gCube Technology: latest development;
  • gCube Technology: ASL HTTP API;
  • gCore training: local event management;
  • gCore 0.5.0;
  • gCube Application Support Layer technology: latest development;
  • gCube Release Plan;
  • gCube Monitoring Tools: status and enhancements;
  • gCube Testing: designing and developing test suites;
  • Production Infrastructure: status and plans;
  • Virtual Research Environments: status;
  • gCube technology for gPod: status and plans;
  • gCube technology for Time Series support: status and plans;
  • gCube technology for AquaMaps: status and plans;
  • User Communities Validation Activity: status and plans.

Together with the TCom event, a Project Executive Board (PEB) took place. During this meeting work package leaders discussed on the overall status of the activities resulting from the TCom.

10 out of 11 participating organisations joined the event with a full total of 28 persons in attendance.
